Mountain over 1500m in south Norway?

Anbefalte innlegg

Hei everybody!

I am new here, so first I want to say hello!

I'd like to spend the last day of current year on some mountain trail - this is my idea to ask my girlfriend the most important Q about our future... ;)

So I'm looking for a mountain:

- at least 1500m high

- quite "easy" to reach now

- which is within a few hours from Oslo by car

- best if we could reach the top, or at least some mid-point with a nice view (if weather let us to do so) without skishoes (truger) and maybe also go down in ski/snowboard :)

I spent last 48h looking form something like this (on ut.no, wikipedia, fb, Googlel etc), calling to people from Gaustatoppen, etc but still didn't find anything...

You on this forum are my last chance - I hope somebody can give me any solution/idea/or just a tip? :)

Regards
Patrick :D

The only mountain I can think of is gaustatoppen. Good view, you can ski down, pretty easy access. And one last thing is that it is a fairly short drive from Oslo

Thanks for answer tklami :)

This is what I thought so, but on fb webpage "conditions on Gaustatoppen" guys disadvised me that,  since I have not too much experience in winter mountain trips in deep snow.

They also mentioned about high avalanche risk these days...

The weather haven't shown itself from the best side lately, so avalanche risk will be present almost everywhere for time being unfortunately. There is a lift inside the mountain that can take you to the top of it is open. Something to maybe consider if you just want the view

Cable-car starts from February. But maybe you know some smaller mountain out there, which can be easier to access within next 2 days? :)

1500 meter is quite high in Norway and there is no mountain this height where you will not risk facing serious weather and conditions. Gaustatoppen is probably one of the easiest and if you follow the cross country route there is relatively low risk of avalanches. However one should always be prepared and trained for such trips, and without the necessary skills I wouldn't recommend it without a guide.

I got an answer, and there's no chance to find anybody to help us reach the top.

Do you guys know where else we can go with nice view, maybe also with some "hytta" and within half a day from Oslo by car?

Can be of course much lower...

The Hardangerjøkulen should be fairly easy if the weather is nice and Finse is a 4 hour train ride from Oslo

Haukeliseter, about 3,5 h drive from Oslo S :)

E134 either by bus (Haukeliexpressen) or car. Both Hellevassbu and Holmavatn are cabins you can visit fairly easy if you wont stay at Haukeliseter DNT for the whole stay. Several peaks around Haukeliseter, both over and under 1500 m.
